The classic School Dinners Chocolate Crunch Recipe.

This is the AUTHENTIC recipe used in schools.... Well in Norfolk and Suffolk anyway... We got it from a school cook!
Feel free to print it out or save it as a PDF, using the controls on the top right.

CHOCOLATE CRUNCH /  CONCRETE CAKE

142g / 5oz Self Raising Flour
142g / 5oz Plain Flour
142g / 5oz Sugar
142g / 5oz Margarine
1 egg
(28g) 1oz to (56g) 2oz Coco powder
2 drops of Vanilla Essence

Melt the fat in a pan, add 2 drops of vanilla essence.

Mix in the Sugar, Coco powder and flour.

Beat in 1 egg

The mixture may seem a little dry. This is fine DO NOT add more water, it will turn from a crunch in
to a cake if you do!

Place in to greased tin, push down really firmly.

Brush with water and sprinkle with more sugar.

Bake at 180c (350f, Gas Mark 4) for 30 mins
